Soft Rains Network: A History

Soft-rains.net began as most websites do, on a freeserver. I chose envy.nu, because it was the hip, adless way to pretend you knew how to code HTML. I tried to think of a cool name, but failed. Therefore, "Just like the real thing" began on July 22, 2001, as my personal site. The project was forgotten for a few months, like half of the things I do, but (very unlike me) I came back and renamed it "soft rains." It stayed on envy.nu until February 2002 (and I had good timing; envy.nu shut down around when I bought the server. I lost my newest layout and newest files, which I didn't have backed up, but I remade them because I'm just that cool), when I bought this domain and server because I wanted to be even cooler, despite the fact I still didn't really know what I was doing. And I've been faking it ever since.

Hope you like what I've done with the place!

I chose the name soft-rains from a story by Ray Bradbury and a poem by Sara Teasdale called "There will come soft rains". They're both really good, go read them! And .net because I like how it sounds. Yay!
